My guess would be:
The persons charged with making the letters didn't know French and believed that the two outlandish words were just an enumeration of something, like two virtues.

@mina Unlikely in my opinion since Frederic II who had the place built in the 18th century knew French better than German.

That's the point: He *had* it built.
He wasn't the blacksmith, nor the builder.
On the other hand: At least in German, they gave a shit about orthography, at that time.
